Dr Farhan Abdul Rauf

Farhan Abdul Rauf is the Public Health Researcher/Physician, Clinical Reviewer, Reader, and Consultant Physiotherapist and Heads the Department of Public Health and Department of Physical Therapy at the A R Family Foundation and the Pakistan Disabled Foundation, Karachi, Pakistan. His overarching research goal is to work in a greater inter regional connectivity for promoting and reinforcing mutual cooperation through exchange of information and doing multidisciplinary research for the advancement of science, education, ethics and human development.

 

His research work-in-progress is being the Member/Volunteer of the Core Workgroup of the Global Health Core Competency Development Project by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), USA. The ASPH is working to develop, vet, and finalize the competency model. ASPH aims to respond to new perspectives regarding the field of global health; promote that global health is public health; clarify the role of academic public health within a systems approach to global health; advance key principles of global health as part of a comprehensive strategy; identify and specify core competencies for voluntary use by academic institutions in this project. He is an Affiliated Scientist at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), USA for the AAAS Science and Human Rights Program.

 

He has a Doctorate of Medicine (MD), a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD), and a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, respectively. His professional affiliations are with the World Medical Association, Inc. (WMA), France; the Global Health Council (GHC), USA; the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH), Canada; the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI), UK; the British Science Association (BSA), UK; The International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD), UK; the International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility (INES), Germany; the International Peace Bureau (IPB), Switzerland; the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), USA; the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER), Switzerland; Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA), USA; the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), France; the Society for Academic Primary Care (SAPC), UK; the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR), Canada; the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD), USA, and many other International Organizations.

 

His research interests include Aging and the Life-Course; Sociology of Health; Social Demography and Social Epidemiology; Race/Ethnic, Sex, and Socioeconomic Disparities in Health; Family Demography; Substance Abuse Epidemiology; Health and Health-Risk Behaviors; Global Health; Public Health Ethics; Health Literacy/Communication; Maternal and Child Health.
