Stephen M. (Steve) Larson was raised in the western Chicago suburb of Glen Ellyn. He graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1970 and from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree in music composition in 1975. He currently lives in central Illinois with his wife and two cats, Scamper and Toby. (One cat, two rabbits and three hamsters are buried in the back yard, but we won't go into that now). He also has an adult son and an adult daughter living nearby.

To live, he works as an inspector in a factory, but he would rather be writing.

He has been a Christian since 1971, and attends Eastview Christian Church

He has been actively writing since grade school, and currently admits to five novels (three of them a fantasy trilogy), eleven short stories, eight poems, a handful of essays, and a play. To accompany one of the novels he has also created over thirty pencil illustrations and a complete four-movement symphony.
