Uncommon, Mystical and Original

The art of Zarum is well presented on his official web site, www.zarum.net. What one can expect to see is art that is very uncommon and a little bit mystic, but certainly original in style. Of course it would be better if one could see the paintings in person. One should certainly get to a Zarum exhibit when possible.

Having said that, in looking at the paintings on the ZARUM web site, one gets a strange feeling that it's not 'me' who's looking at the pictures, but the pictures who are looking at ''
'me' with their ever present all-knowing eyes. This is powerful work which holds the viewer even in its digital photographic reproductions over the internet.

Zarum combines in an original manner brutal, bold, lively, anxious, glad and provocative expressions with round, sensual forms, and interlaced with a generous amount of humor. Thus he creates his very own worldview in which people and feelings hold a central position.

Zarum lives in Amsterdam but paints in a magnificent Spanish estate where he is in direct contact with his partial Spanish roots. In those surroundings he can perfectly transmit his Mediterranean temperament into his two - and three-dimensional work.
