Although much of the work you see on my site is predominantly executed in charcoal, I try not to restrict myself to any one medium and prefer to allow the subject matter to dictate the process and materials. However sometimes the materials and the experience can take over and like a child at play I have no option but to follow this and experiment. I love it when the piece takes on a life of its own and I am pointed to another path of investigation and discovery. At other times the inherent quality or spirit of the subject matter demands my attention and by its very nature requires an airing. This is an important part of the creative process for me and is something I strive for in my work. When the right balance is achieved it can be a wonderful experience for both the artist and hopefully the viewer.

What's on my mind...
