Roy Burns Profile
My Images
A self taught artist I neglected my gift for creativity for most of my life until around five or six years ago when I picked up brush and paint and began practising again. Four years later I had my first solo exhibtion in a local Belfast library. Since then I have had three additional exhibits all of them in Belfast with encouraging responses from the artistic community and the public.
Recently my painting style has shifted to creating abstracts of Ireland, in particular paintings in my blue series and in my collection of the Giant's Causeway pieces in the Birth of a Nation series.
The atmospheric Irish land and seascapes are contemplative and spiritual in nature and infused with subtle but contrasting light year - round and from season to season, from sunsets at 10pm in high summer to the moody sunsets of winter when the disc of light flickers below the horizon in late afternoon. Influenced by these conditions I paint how I feel and strive to capture the Irish psyche in all it's haunting mystery and spirituality.
