Frank Zipperer
Frank Zipperer, freelance fine art photographer living in Arlington, Virginia, has had a passion for photography for over 40 years. The greatest influences on his style are the works of Edward Weston, Paul Strand, John Sexton, Clyde Butcher, Imogen Cunningham and the artist, Georgia O'Keefe. Frank's greatest joy in photography is sharing with others the experience he has had with his subject through the lens of his camera.
Zipperer is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, the National Association of Press Photographers, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and a founding charter member of the North American Nature Photographers Association. He is a member distributor of the International Freelance Photographers Organization (IFPO) and is accredited by and on assignment to "Today's Photographer Magazine International", published by American Image Press.
Primarily a photographer of nature, Zipperer captures the aesthetic beauty of a flower in an almost exotic manner. His fine art prints, which are intended to evoke an appreciation for what they are and not necessarily what they once were, are manipulated digitally to obtain the effect that he wants to share with the viewer. Sometimes this is as small a correction as sharpening or soft focusing or balancing brightness and contrast. He often eliminates the background of a print, thus presenting an image that pops to the front out of darkness. Zipperer also creates abstract or impressionistic images from his original photos using a variety of filters and effects to create another image altogether. His hope is that a viewer of his work will find at least one image that will cause them to say "Wow"!
