Ian was born and now resides in the north east of England near a small seaside town called Redcar. Ian studied art at A-level and then went on to study animation and film at Teesside University. After a short while working as a graphic designer in Oxford Ian decided to free himself from the constraints of company employment and has been working as a professional artist ever since. Ians paintings confidently stand out from the rest of the crowd and can be easily identified by his unique style. The style Ian has developed is instantly recognisable by the attention to detail, and his striking use of depth and tone. Ian takes great time and care to create a dynanmic result through his inspirational use of scaling, layout and his characteristic backgrounds. The final result is an original piece of contemporary artwork that no other comes close to. To own an original by Ian Calvert is to own a statement of art history in the making. Ians work has sold worldwide from Sweden to New York, and all over the UK. His artwork is due to be published this october in the forthcoming book by Roger G Taylor "Marilyn in Art" of which the first publication Is now a collectors edition. Ian has exhibited throughtout the North East of England and has a strong presence throughout galleries on the internet. Ians work frequently receives critical acclaim and has been listed in the Art Wanted Top Ten many times. As well as producing fine art Ian also continues to pursue other ongoing creative projects in animation, comics and childrens illustration.
