Joseph Etta Etta
Joseph Etta Etta was born in South West Province, Cameroon. My mother worked as a music composer and my father was engaged in the scientific research, intellectual family gave me a taste of art when I was young. My mother let me learn art special features since childhood. The violin, accordion, and the Bamboo flute and singing, every time I knew the basic skills then gave up. None of them I had been interested. When I was twelve years old, my mother asked me to learn from an art teacher. I could not help painting the moment I picked up the brush. Painting opened my eyes and became my destiny.
After more than 10 years hard working, the luck finally came to me. In 2000, I became one of graphic designers in South west Province. I kept oil painting creation and published the works in the publication unceasingly. Many of my oil paintings were awarded in the domestic exhibition during 2004 and 2005.
Along with the marketing economy, some of my friends proposed that I should also follow the trend and put my works on the market. In 1999, with the support and encouragement of my parents and my wife, I attended The Arts and culture university in south africa the first time. Luckily I had sold the painting “Yellow Opium†by unexpected prices. It had strengthened my confidence of creation. So I had attended the following six times Shanghai Art Fairs. And I will be participating Zurich International Art Fair 2006 in October 2006.
After many years practice and exploration, and study from Africa, my own painting style has been improved. From Millais’s neoclassic principle to Monet's impressionist, again to Vincent van Gogh’s bright postimpressionist then grew to the vibrant colours, brushwork bold of fauvism, as well as the afterwards expressionism, I has formed my own drawing style gradually.I paint flowers trees and houses in strong colours, represented crazy colour, trembles the line intensified the turbulent feeling, in the painting reveal as if the rhythm transformation and convulse colour with. The enthusiasm of life and the deep love of the nature have been show a new feeling and new person who is all different from other artists.
What's on my mind...
