Color Pencil on Sandpaper

I was just learning to use color pencil. I had tried a new paper that was treated with cilica sand, for use with pastels and color pencil. It still did not have the toothy grain I was looking for. I sprayed a board with "Sand Paint" and used it for several color pencil portraits. It allows for deep rich colors and many layers of colors, to effectively mix them. Scruffy is the first piece I ever did with this technique.
