Night Lines

Night Lines

I rub my bloodshot bleary eyes, tired of killing time
While the ancient Trailways Bus just keeps moving forward
through A-List avenues of lingering sorrow, silent rage

Harsh blues howl past narrow-banded windows
Fluorescent lights form aggravating shapes
Darksome melody creations in the crackling sky

You rise and stretch, walk down the aisle; leave your satchel on the seat
I wait to see if you?ll return, but I hear the front door close
Curiosity?s aphrodisiac, I unclasp the metal hinges

Your lines of poetry move me, exoneration rules the night
Lavender tendrils curling round my heart and soul
I drown in beauty?s tender love, still swimming in my tears
