THE PERFECT HOMEPAGE...
And How Artists And Writers Can Exploit It Practically And Experimentally
------------------------
A few months ago I became aware of all the neat gizmos available free to site designers--things such as This Day in History, Quote of the Day, currency converter, stock prices, etc. The common denominator is that they change each day.
I liked these gizmos (for lack of a better word) so much that I started thinking, why not create a whole site which is just these gizmos and a great link in each category (science, math, history, sports, etc.). The idea would be to create a quick, useful homepage for teachers, students, researchers, and so forth. The result is Ieducate.info.
There’s no attempt to be comprehensive. Forget about it; the web is already vast beyond comprehension. The goal is to have a good gateway into any project. And to make the site fun and easy and pretty. Smart ten-year-olds can use this site, as can stock brokers who want to daydream, stay-at-home moms, and senior citizens.
And there’s another category: artists and writers. In my essay “MAX your creativity†(Google can find it) I discuss how the surrealists emphasized randomness and experimentation. Sometimes, when you’re stuck, it’s good to invite Chance to the party. Ieducate.info provides a new easy way to do this. Just click a link blindly--let where you end up serve as catalyst. Or think in advance of one of the gizmos--e.g. “Quote of the Dayâ€--and go there with the intent of writing a poem about whatever the quote is.
I believe that Andre Breton (the father of surrealism) would approve!
