In the early Eighties, after much experimentation, Carole Estrup developed a durable, textured technique for using gold in oil paintings. Now that Gustav Klimt's work is so much in demand, Carole's deserves a much closer look.
These are early examples.
While Klimt's models often seem dead or dying and gold might have been used as a shroud, Carole's people are alive, struggling to live and live well.
