Chateau de Chillon
George Gordon, Lord Byron (1788-1824) wrote the poem, The Prisoner of Chillon. It was first published in 1816.
Around 1987 I was given an antique post card (Circa 1900) depicting the Chateau de Chillon. In 2001 I rediscovered the post card and decided to use it as a reference for one of my paintings. That year I completed the painting. It is 30"x40", acrylic on canvas. It is a bold painting with a tumultuous sky charged with the emotions of "The Prisoner of Chillon".
