The Joys of Abstract Painting by Hilary Eastment
In my opinion 'Abstract' painting has grown to represent such a wide spectrum of depiction; I feel that this artistic theme has opened the doors for true freedom of expression and creativity for many passionate painters; it is the one category in art that seems now to have no base rules.
For me viewing other artists' abstract works is very enjoyable, and I never fail to be amazed by the by the aesthetically pleasing and sometimes thought provoking images created by a spectrum of talented artists from all over the globe.
I think we are fortunate today to have the wonders of technology at our disposal to view vast numbers of paintings via the internet, it would almost be impossible to view and enjoy this global collection of artistic images without this facility at our fingertips.
My own abstract works tend to vary in style, depending on my moods and inspirations at the time, sometimes I've depicted a pattern or a design that originally started as a basic drawing and developed as I painted, other times I've used the basic shapes and colours to be seen from an obscure section of a flower or plant. I enjoy experimenting with different mediums, I mostly work with acrylics and oils for large abstract paintings, and I have great fun trying out different application methods. Here are a couple of my abstract paintings.
