Winter’s Long Kiss

The scornful magpie is jabbering, pitch-black, full of woe
She rails at the noontime sky
She seeks warmer climes, hot pink flamingoes
But the sun’s tongue is frozen, he cannot reply
That all the oak trees wear fashionable ice
Dangling teardrop earrings
Chandeliers sparkling, light-prisms entice
February is glitterati, glamorous and fascinating
The reflecting pond in the meadow
Mirrors the sun and the moon and the stars
The sky is turquoise obsidian, twilight cinnabar glow
A polished shine of breath-taking memoirs
The snowy ground is jeweled-white, Chantilly bridal gowns
Virginal lace that’s smooth and cold
Veiled mist gracing tiara crowns
Winter’s long kiss in beauty extolled
