"Bridges"
"A bridge is a structure built to span a valley, road, railroad track, river, body of water, or any other physical obstacle, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle." Please feel free to use your own definition of the word "bridge" West Cornwall, Connecticut is home to one of the three remaining covered bridges in the State of Connecticut. As a nod to that fact, Lady Audrey's Gallery presents the theme "Bridges" as its Call for Entries. Whether it's a covered bridge, a wooden bridge, a series of stepping stones, a structural steel span, or an idea or situation which bridges some gap, send us your interpretations - all artists working in all mediums welcome. First Prize $150 Second Prize $100 Third Prize $50 Honorable Mentions $25 each for three winners Closing date is July Friday, July 31, 2009
for Competition Exhibition Opening Reception Sunday September 6, 2009 at Lady Audrey's Gallery 413 Sharon Goshen Turnpike (Route 128) off Route 7 Just over the Covered Bridge in Railroad Square (When You See the Bear You're There) West Cornwall, Connecticut 06796 This is not an on-line competition. Works accepted will be shown in the final Competition Exhibition in West Cornwall, Connecticut. Artists should be prepared to ship (or deliver) their work to arrive approximately two weeks prior to the exhibition date. Works should be available for sale and may remain with Lady Audrey’s Gallery for a period of three (3) months. If not sold within the three month time period, artists may arrange for the return of the work or continue exhibiting with Lady Audrey’s Gallery.
Work accepted for the final Competition Exhibition will also be available for sale through Lady Audrey’s Gallery website. Lady Audrey's Gallery also has a rotating fines arts exhibition at The Cornwall Inn. www.cornwallinn.com HOW TO ENTER Entries must be in the form of 35mm slides, digital jpeg’s on a CD, or as e-mail attachments in 800x600 dpi jpeg format and accompanied by an official entry form or facsimile thereof. Incomplete entry forms, such as those without a telephone number, may be disqualified. Slides and CDs will be returned if accompanied by a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope or may be picked up at the gallery. Please fill out or print out a copy and submit the Competition Entry Form either by mail or in person. Please continue to the Entry Form link at the top of this page to enter. The entry fee is $25.00 for up to and including 5 entries. CDs and Slides should be mailed to: Lady Audrey’s Gallery P. O. Box 5 West Cornwall, Connecticut 06796 Entries will be pre-qualified by a selection committee who will choose the finalists. Artists will be notified within 10 days of submission receipt whether the work has been accepted for the Exhibition Competition. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs to and from Lady Audrey’s Gallery. All work submitted must be original and similar to the work which will be submitted if accepted by the pre-screening jury. All wall art must be framed and ready to hang. Lady Audrey’s Gallery reserves the right to determine acceptable subject matter for its website as well as sponsored competitions. Please call or e-mail with questions or concerns.
