Carry The Cross
Bali is my land and my family is the first Christian family in Bali. My family became Christians in 1933. I am the youngest in my family. My mother was 44 years old when I was born. She was too old to carry a baby, In her prayers she asked for a daughter and she promised God that if she had a daughter her child would serve God. I love painting. I studied in fine arts school and continued on to study fine arts and design college. I did not study theology but I use my talent to serve God. I think I can serve God whit my painting. When my mother passed away I had a problem. There were not many who understand and appreciated fine arts and I needed money. I had two choices: to continue to study fine arts or to learn interior design. In my mind at that time, the first choice was the best way as I could serve God through my art but I could not get enough money to support myself. The second choice was good in terms of money but did not allow me to serve God directly so I did not have peace in my heart. I had to choose between God and money. I asked God for the answer and the next day God showed me that I could depend on Him rather than on money or people. I chose to serve God and I have peace in my heart. Almost all of my works have the theme of “Viadolorosa” – the suffering, affliction and punishment that Jesus Christ had to bear and endure, especially in His crucifixion.

What's on my mind...

These paintings are beautiful, so expressive! Hopefully you will produce a gallery of like paintings for sale. That would help your cause of getting your message out.

Shalom!

If I like to contact the artist, is there any way I can do so? I am an Phd student interested in Baliness art and culture, especially in Baliness painting. I am also a Cristian myself, hope getting the opportunity to share my fath with the artist, and to understand more about being a Cristian and an artist in Bali.

I'm personally not one for the arts and such, but these paintings say a lot, they bring a familiar vision to the world in a new light. You should be proud of what you have created.
